Vera Wang, 77, Shares Rare Makeup-Free Selfie Amid Age-Defying Appearances

Vera Wang, the 77-year-old fashion designer, has shared a rare makeup-free selfie on Instagram, showing herself in bed while feeling unwell. This candid moment offers a contrast to her recent highly publicized red carpet appearances, where she has garnered attention for her youthful and striking looks.

Wang posted the image on Saturday, captioning it with: "STUCK in my bed sneezing a lot….. so staying here …..my real office." The photo showcased her face without any makeup, framed by her long hair.

This appearance follows several instances where Wang has made headlines for her age-defying public image. In June, she celebrated her 77th birthday with a transformation that included sporting blonde hair, a departure from her signature dark brunette locks. During the birthday celebration, she was pictured blowing out candles on a cake adorned with the number '77,' surrounded by friends and featuring sparklers.

Her blonde hair, styled in a shoulder-length blunt-cut bob, significantly altered her appearance. At her birthday event, her face appeared youthful and smooth, and she wore a sleeveless white halter dress that highlighted her figure. This blonde look was also seen earlier in May at the Met Gala, where she sported platinum locks with a black gown.

Wang has previously spoken about her approach to aging and beauty, expressing that she finds ageism "so old-fashioned." In a 2022 interview, she described her "magic elixir" for staying youthful as her work, but also mentioned that a "vodka" cocktail and "nine hours of sleep a day" contribute. She has also humorously cited McDonald's and donuts as part of her diet, along with vodka and ample sleep as elements of her routine.

Vera Wang, who is the chief creative officer of her fashion empire, said her 'magic elixir' for staying youthful is work. However, she also admitted that a 'vodka' cocktail and 'nine hours of sleep a day' help

Wang began her career in the fashion industry at 18, later becoming the youngest fashion editor at Vogue at 23. She launched her own fashion label nearly two decades later. Despite the attention on her appearance, Wang has stated that she hopes her work is not overshadowed by discussions of her aging. She emphasized that "every age has its own set of beauty standards" and that while flattered by comments on her appearance, her goal was never specifically to focus on aging well, but rather to avoid being defined by ageism.
