HBO has released the first trailer for the upcoming fourth season of its Emmy-nominated series, "The Gilded Age," revealing that the historical drama will premiere on November 1. The new season promises significant plot developments, including a presidential visit for dinner and George Russell taking possession of a firearm.

Aunt Agnes van Rhijn, portrayed by Christine Baranski, is depicted in a particularly dramatic moment, declaring, “Vengeance shall be mine!” to which Aunt Ada, played by Cynthia Nixon, suggests leaving vengeance to a higher power. Agnes’s sharp retort, “Not if we want it done properly,” sets a tone of intense conflict for the season.

The trailer also offers glimpses into the lives of other characters. Mrs. Enid Winterton (Kelley Curran) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) are shown in key interactions, while Jack Trotter, described as a “clock twink,” grapples with his newfound wealth. The romantic storyline of Larry (Harry Richardson) and Marian (Louisa Jacobson), referred to as “Larian,” appears to be progressing positively as they are seen together again.

In addition to the dramatic snippets, HBO has provided an official description for the season. Following Bertha Russell's societal transformations and their resulting consequences, her family must navigate the fallout. Agnes van Rhijn is poised to capitalize on opportunities to reclaim her social standing. Meanwhile, Marian is forging her own path, and Peggy is working towards acceptance from her future in-laws. The season's overarching theme suggests that in this new era, desires may come with unforeseen costs.

"The Gilded Age" Season 4 will consist of eight episodes. Viewers can watch the series on HBO and stream it on HBO Max starting Sunday, November 1, at 9 PM ET.
