Vanessa Trump recently accompanied her daughter Kai to shop for her new college apartment as Kai begins her freshman year at the University of Miami. The outing occurred while Vanessa is navigating her own battle with breast cancer.
In a video shared by Kai on Instagram, Vanessa, 48, described feeling exhausted from the back-and-forth travel to her daughter's apartment and the process of moving in. "I am totally exhausted from going to her apartment and coming back and forth and moving everything," Vanessa stated while at a Target store. Kai, 19, had explained that her mother had driven to Miami the previous day because she had "messed up the furniture delivery."
Vanessa humorously noted the rush hour traffic during the trip, adding, "What we do for our children, right?" She also listed essential items Kai would need from Target, including cleaning supplies, indicating that Kai would be responsible for maintaining her own living space. Kai playfully suggested she might call her mother for cleaning help, to which Vanessa responded that Kai would need to learn to manage it herself or risk living in a mess.
Kai captioned the video expressing gratitude for her mother's presence and support during the back-to-school shopping. "So thankful my mom was there to do it all with me. She truly is the BEST mom, and I’m so grateful for her," Kai wrote. She had committed to the University of Miami to play golf in August 2024.
Kai is the eldest of Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr.'s five children. The couple divorced in 2018. Vanessa announced her breast cancer diagnosis in May, sharing that she was working with her medical team on a treatment plan and remained hopeful. In June, she provided an update stating she was recovering from surgery and preparing for the second stage of her treatment. By July, Kai told Page Six that her mother was "doing good" amid her health challenges.
