Vanessa Trump Announces Cancer-Free Status in Emotional Video
The former President's daughter-in-law shared the health update with her daughter, Kai Trump, months after her diagnosis.
Vanessa Trump announced on Instagram that she is now cancer-free after a battle with breast cancer. She shared the news in an emotional video alongside her daughter, Kai Trump, several months after publicly disclosing her diagnosis in April.
"And it came back clear, so I'm finally cancer-free," Vanessa Trump stated in the video, with her daughter responding, "Love you!"
Kai Trump revealed in October that her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April. In a shared video preview on Instagram, Kai stated, "And my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, so we thought we'd share her story and how she was diagnosed, how she overcame it."
The video also featured Fox News medical contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier, who discussed the importance of breast cancer awareness and early detection. "It feels different for everyone," Saphier said. "The reason I like social media talking about breast cancer is because it's reminding people that it is common."
Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. and mother of five, initially announced her breast cancer diagnosis in May. At the time, she wrote, "I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn't news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan." She added that she was "staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me."
In June, Vanessa Trump reported that she was recovering from surgery and preparing for the next stage of treatment. Kai Trump later described the emotional impact of her mother's illness in an August interview, noting the significant time spent together before Kai began her freshman year at the University of Miami. "There was definitely, there was a lot of crying in like the week leading up," Kai Trump recalled. "We would just be driving, and then we'd just start crying together."
Kai Trump characterized the extra time spent with her mother over the summer as a "blessing in disguise," allowing for more shared moments before heading to college. "I was able to spend extra time with her that I would normally probably spend on the golf course," she said. "It was nice to spend those extra hours with her throughout the day before going to college."
