Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses after a cherished Peppa Pig topiary sculpture in Newton Purcell, Oxfordshire, was found deliberately vandalized. The head of the popular hedge figure was sawn off sometime between August 13 and August 15.
The owners described the act as distressing, noting the years of effort and dedication required to grow and maintain the topiary, which had become a well-known local landmark. "Peppa was loved by the locals and by visitors alike," said Laura Hinton, one of the family members responsible for its upkeep. She added that the severed head was not left at the scene, suggesting the perpetrators took it with them. The damage was discovered on four separate stumps, indicating a planned act.
Police are investigating the criminal damage and have requested that anyone with information, including dash-cam or CCTV footage, contact them. The force is referencing case number 43260423720.
The topiary had taken years to grow and had become a popular local landmark, leaving its owners and residents devastated by the incident.
