Valtteri Bottas Completes 419km Cycle Commute to Singapore Grand Prix

Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas has completed a 419-kilometer (260-mile) cycling journey from Malaysia to Singapore for the upcoming Grand Prix.

Bottas chose an arduous off-road and gravel route for his commute, documenting his trip on social media. The Finnish driver began his journey shortly after the Grand Prix in Malaysia concluded, needing to arrive in Singapore by Thursday to fulfill media obligations.

On Wednesday afternoon, Bottas shared a selfie on his bicycle with the caption, "419.67km commute," accompanied by a tick emoji. He also posted a photo of his "certificate of completion."

Earlier posts detailed his unconventional travel choice, with one caption reading, "Taking the path less travelled (and maybe a bit longer)." In a video shared on X, he wrote, "Yea I'm riding to Singapore. On the gravel roads less travelled with my new @canyon_bikes Grail CFR. See you there."

Bottas was accompanied on his ride by his partner, professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell. The journey spanned multiple days, with Bottas covering 161.91 kilometers on Monday and an additional 161 kilometers on Tuesday.

This endeavor is not unusual for Bottas, who has a history of participating in cycling events. He qualified for the Gravel World Championships earlier in the summer after finishing fifth in an off-road event in the Czech Republic, though he will be unable to compete in this year's championship due to the timing of the Grand Prix.

Bottas, who drives for Cadillac in the 2026 season, has had a challenging year, having not yet scored any points after 16 races and failing to finish eight of them. He previously served as Mercedes' reserve driver.
