Utah Mother Fighting Cancer Seeks Meet-and-Greet with Kacey Musgraves for Daughter

Jenny Lowe, a 41-year-old mother from Utah, is battling ovarian cancer for the fourth time and is focused on creating lasting memories for her five-year-old daughter, Hope. Lowe plans to attend a Kacey Musgraves concert on October 15 in Salt Lake City with her husband James and friends.
A Daughter's Love for Music
After purchasing concert tickets, Lowe discovered that Hope is also a significant fan of Musgraves. A video posted on Instagram by Lowe shows Hope singing Musgraves's song "Too Good to Be True," which Hope affectionately calls "Make Some Breakfast" due to its opening lyrics. Lowe has tagged Musgraves in the video, hoping for an opportunity for her family to meet the artist.
Lowe expressed her wish in a public post, stating, “Kacey, I’m taking a chance and hoping this somehow finds its way to you. My five-year-old daughter, Hope, has accidentally turned one of your songs into something that belongs to the two of us.” She further explained that Hope would be heartbroken to miss the concert and asked if a brief meeting would be possible. "I don’t need anything elaborate. I’d just love for Hope to meet the woman behind the song she calls ‘Make Some Breakfast,’" Lowe wrote.
Musgraves's music has become a comforting presence for Lowe, especially during difficult times. She shared a touching moment when Hope sang the song to her after Lowe received news of her cancer's return. Lowe keeps a recording of this moment, cherishing it as a precious memory.
A Journey Through Illness and Hope
Lowe was first diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in 2019. At the time, she and her husband James were planning to start a family but learned she would lose the ability to have children of her own. The couple welcomed Hope in 2021 through surrogacy.
Her cancer went into remission in 2023, but returned again in 2025. Throughout her health struggles, Lowe has found strength in her daughter, describing Hope as a source of light and a blessing. She has also documented her experiences in a book titled "Saved by Hope."
Lowe was reportedly amazed by the public's response to her story, calling the widespread sharing of her plea a "moment of human interest and impact." She expressed gratitude for the kindness shown and the willingness of others to help make her daughter's simple bucket list item a reality.
