Utah Football Player Suspended Amid Rape Allegation and Video Sharing
Senior defensive lineman Jamal Wallace faces multiple charges after an alleged incident, with police reportedly finding videos on his phone.
A senior player on the Utah football team has been suspended indefinitely following an allegation of rape. Jamal Wallace, a defensive lineman, is under investigation by Salt Lake City police.
Wallace was arrested earlier this month and faces charges including five misdemeanors. According to multiple outlets, the accuser stated that on October 9, she was discussing their relationship with Wallace when he allegedly forced her to perform oral sex and engage in intercourse. The woman also claimed that Wallace physically assaulted her during the incident.
Police reportedly discovered videos of the alleged incident on Wallace's phone. The accuser told authorities that these videos were sent to five individuals via Snapchat. Wallace has denied assaulting the alleged victim and was released on $5,000 bail.
The University of Utah released a statement on October 11, saying, "We were made aware of the situation with Jamal Wallace, and he was immediately placed on an indefinite suspension from the program. We take these matters seriously. As this is a pending legal matter, we have no further comment at this time."
Wallace appeared in one game for the Utes this season after transferring from Tennessee, where he played in six games last year.
