USMNT's Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinal Moved to Miami Due to Haitian Security Concerns
Haiti requested the venue change for their upcoming match against the United States, citing ongoing security issues.
The U.S. men’s national team's Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal match against Haiti, originally scheduled for Kingston, Jamaica, has been relocated to Nu Stadium in Miami. The first leg of the series is now set to take place in South Florida on November 14.
Haiti's federation requested the venue change from the Caribbean nation to the United States due to persistent security concerns within Haiti. The nation has been unable to play matches within its borders since July 2021, following the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. Gangs took control of the national stadium, Stade Sylvio Cator, in 2024, further complicating any potential home matches.
Concacaf approved the request, allowing Haiti to play designated home matches in the territory of their opponents under an exceptional arrangement. This flexibility will remain as long as the security situation in Haiti persists, though each match requires separate approval from Concacaf, agreement from the opposing nation, and confirmation that the chosen stadium meets Concacaf's guidelines.
Haiti had previously hosted World Cup qualifying matches in various Caribbean nations, including Barbados, Aruba, and Curaçao. Most recently, they played Nations League group stage matches in Kingston, Jamaica, at the venue originally slated for the U.S. match.
The second leg of the quarterfinal series will be played in Cincinnati at TQL Stadium three days after the Miami match. The U.S. team will also be in South Florida later in the year, with a match against Jamaica scheduled for December 13 at Inter Miami Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
