The U.S. Men's National Team was honored at a Seattle Mariners game on Friday, July 3, 2026, where head coach Mauricio Pochettino threw out the ceremonial first pitch. The team was presented with an honor guard prior to the game between the Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Nearly the entire USMNT roster was introduced and recognized on the field. Following the introductions, Pochettino, wearing a No. 5 Mariners jersey, delivered the first pitch. The Mariners' roster then joined the soccer team for a photo opportunity, with American flags present.
"Guys thank you so much. It’s amazing to be at the game here," Pochettino addressed the crowd. "I think your support is amazing. It’s an amazing city. It’s a soccer city. Thank you."
Cristian Roldan, a midfielder for the Seattle Sounders who played college soccer at the University of Washington, then spoke to the fans. "Thank you Seattle," Roldan said. "Thank you for the love and support. Let’s go win a World Cup! Go USA!"
The team was played off the field to the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads," which became associated with the team as a victory anthem after a previous match played nearby at Lumen Field.
Folarin Balogun, a star player for the USMNT, commented on the experience, stating that such a scene is unique to America. He noted the team's ability to maintain focus while also engaging in other activities to alleviate pressure.
