Usha Vance Nearly Stumbles on Helicopter Stairs While Carrying Newborn

Second Lady Usha Vance, 40, demonstrated quick reflexes as she nearly lost her footing while descending the stairs of a Marine Two helicopter on Monday. The incident occurred as she exited the aircraft at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, carrying her two-month-old son, Alec, in a chest carrier.

Vance, dressed in a plaid skirt, brown top, and heeled boots, stumbled after missing a step. She was able to catch herself by grabbing the railings before regaining her composure, offering a smile. Personnel at the bottom of the stairs did not intervene during the brief moment of instability.

Video footage of the event circulated on social media, prompting a range of reactions. Some viewers praised Vance's grace under pressure, while others criticized the guards for not offering assistance to someone carrying an infant.

Vice President JD Vance exited the helicopter after his wife, carrying their daughter. The couple were en route to Alaska for a campaign rally, traveling via Air Force Two.

Usha and JD Vance welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, in July. They are also parents to sons Ewan, 9, and Vivek, 6, and daughter Mirabel, 4. Following Alec's birth, JD Vance expressed gratitude to the medical staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit.
