The No. 12 USC Trojans are set to face No. 20 Oregon on Saturday at the Coliseum in a game that could significantly shape their season and Coach Lincoln Riley's legacy.

Riley, who arrived from Oklahoma with a reputation for College Football Playoff success, has yet to fully meet expectations in his tenure with USC. He also noted the team's potential, suggesting they have "only shown glimpses of its potential" and that "our ceiling is still out there."

Quarterback and Offensive Developments

For quarterback Jayden Maiava, this game represents a chance for his first major statement victory as USC's starter. Riley has expressed confidence in Maiava's development, calling him "the guy" to lead the team. Despite a somewhat uneven performance against Rutgers, Maiava's teammates have reported seeing increased confidence from him.

On the offensive side, USC's receiving corps could see increased contributions from transfer Terrell Anderson. Riley indicated that Anderson, who was a significant transfer portal pickup, is nearing full health after an injury and the emergence of freshmen limited his early opportunities. "Terrell’s a heck of a player, and he’s definitely gonna help us," Riley said.

The running back situation has also seen shifts. While Waymond Jordan is a key part of the rotation, King Miller has started the last two games, and Riley Wormley has emerged as a dynamic option with recent touchdown production. Jordan, however, expressed confidence in his recovery from an ankle injury, stating, "I feel amazing."
