USC Football: Freshman Wide Receiver Trent Mosley Listed as Doubtful for Oregon Game

USC's standout freshman wide receiver Trent Mosley may be nearing a return to the field. Mosley was listed as doubtful on the team's availability report released Wednesday, a development that could signal his return for No. 12 USC's matchup against No. 20 Oregon on Saturday at the Coliseum. He had previously missed the Trojans' Big Ten opener due to an unspecified injury.

Mosley sustained a possible right knee injury during USC's victory over Louisiana earlier this month, as indicated by television broadcasts showing him with ice on his knee. His potential absence was felt last week when freshman wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt stepped in, recording a team-leading five catches for 77 yards.

Fellow wide receiver Corey Simms was listed as out for the Oregon game after suffering an apparent left knee injury in the fourth quarter of a previous contest. Simms had contributed significantly with four catches for 72 yards and a touchdown in that game.

Other USC players sidelined for Saturday's game include center Kilian O’Connor, who is out for the season, safety Kendarius Reddick, and reserve linebacker Taylor “Taybo” Johnson. Defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart, who has been dealing with a foot injury since the start of the season, is listed as questionable. Coach Lincoln Riley indicated that Stewart is progressing and nearing a return.

Linebacker Elijah Newby is listed as probable, while safety Alex Graham, running back Deshonne Redeaux, and linebacker Jadyn Walker are listed as questionable.

Oregon will be without their own key player, wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan, who suffered a broken foot prior to the Ducks' game against Portland State. McClellan had led his team in receiving through the first two games of the season.

Mosley has been a significant contributor for USC this season, accumulating 13 catches for 255 yards and four touchdowns through the first three games, in addition to an 86-yard punt return for a score.
