The U.S. Central Command (CentCom) reported that "powerful" strikes were launched against Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) small boats and military targets. The action was a direct response to Iran's attacks on three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
Following the strikes, Iranian state media indicated that targets in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm island, and Sirik were hit. Videos emerged showing a fire burning in Bandar Abbas.
Iran's deputy foreign minister characterized the U.S. strikes as a violation of a memorandum of understanding signed between the two nations last month. He warned that Tehran would "take decisive measures" in response.
