US Secretary of State to Host Foreign Ministers at College Football Game
Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to invite foreign counterparts to attend the Florida-Georgia football matchup in Atlanta.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to host his foreign minister counterparts at a college football game following diplomatic meetings. The group is expected to attend the matchup between rivals Florida and Georgia in Atlanta.
The game, often referred to as the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” due to its large crowds, is a fixture of the American sporting calendar. It was relocated to Atlanta this year from its usual venue in Jacksonville, Florida, because of stadium renovations.
It remains unclear which ministers will accept the invitation to the game. U.S. officials have indicated that a number of foreign ministers have expressed interest in attending. Rubio's son, Anthony, plays for the Florida team, which is ranked No. 17. The Georgia team is ranked No. 3 and is heavily favored to win the contest.
