The U.S. Treasury announced Friday it has imposed sanctions on a Turkish financial institution, Golden Global Yatirim Bankasi Anonim Sirketi, designating it as a critical financial lifeline for the Iranian government.

These actions are part of "Operation Economic Outcast," a U.S. initiative aimed at pressuring Tehran to alter its behavior following more than six months of conflict. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the new effort last week.

Last week, the U.S. also targeted the operations of an Egyptian bank located in the United Arab Emirates as part of its ongoing campaign to restrict Iran's access to international finance.
