US Military Officer Injured in Stadium Fall During Pre-Game Ceremony
An Air Force member sustained injuries after falling from the Alamodome rafters during a demonstration before the Navy-UTSA football game.
A U.S. military officer was transported to a local hospital on Saturday night after falling from the ceiling of the Alamodome during a pre-game ceremony. The unnamed Air Force member was part of a four-person team performing a fast rope demonstration from the stadium's rafters prior to the Navy-UTSA football game.
Video footage showed the officer descending the rope when he reportedly slipped and fell, striking the turf below. The incident occurred on UTSA's annual Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans night. Medics immediately attended to the officer on the field before he was taken away in a cart and transported to a hospital. The game experienced a delay while the situation was addressed.
The officer is associated with Detachment 2 of the 6th Combat Training Squadron, an Air Force unit that trains tactical air controllers. This unit's training includes rappelling maneuvers from significant heights, often from helicopters.
The exact condition and identity of the injured officer have not yet been released. The San Antonio Express-News reported the incident, quoting a UTSA spokesperson. The official attendance for the game was recorded as 23,297.
