US Marshals Arrest Suspect in NYPD Officer Hit-and-Run

Federal and local law enforcement have apprehended Eduardo Paulino, 31, in connection with the hit-and-run incident that injured an NYPD officer responding to a disturbance in the Bronx on Saturday night. Paulino was arrested Monday morning by the U.S. Marshals Service and the NYPD.

He faces charges including attempted murder of a police officer, assault, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct. According to authorities, Paulino was at a large street gathering characterized by loud music when police arrived at Garrison Avenue and Whittier Street. He allegedly fled the scene in a white Honda Pilot, striking an uniformed officer in the process.

The injured officer was transported to Lincoln Medical Center and is reported to be in stable condition. Paulino has a prior arrest for assault last month.

"There is nowhere to hide in New York for individuals who choose violence against law enforcement," said U.S. Marshal Ricky J. Patel. "We promised a swift and decisive capture, and through the combined, relentless efforts of the U.S. Marshals and our partners, we delivered."

Patel added, "If you assault those who wear the shield to protect this city, the full weight of federal and local law enforcement will find you."
