The United States announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, launching significant joint strikes with Israel that targeted at least nine towns and cities across the country, according to Iranian state news agency IRNA.
IRNA reported that the cities of Bushehr, Tabriz, Urmia, Bandar Imam Khomeini, Jask, Sirik, Mahshahr, Chabahar, and Konarak were struck in the latest wave of American attacks.
Local officials cited by IRNA stated that at least one person was killed and several others were injured in strikes on Tabriz. The extent of casualties and damage in other locations remains under investigation.
The U.S. Central Command confirmed the strikes, releasing imagery of explosions. The operations mark a significant escalation in hostilities, with the U.S. citing the need to counter escalating threats from Iran.
