American influencer Connor Murphy drowned in a lake in Thailand on July 7 after allegedly injecting melted gold jewelry and experiencing erratic behavior, according to Australian influencer Androgenic, a friend of Murphy's. Androgenic, whose real name is Ronan, stated that Murphy had become fixated on gold, believing it would help him achieve a higher state of consciousness, and claimed Murphy was melting down gold jewelry and injecting it.

Androgenic visited Murphy in Thailand in May and described his behavior as erratic, noting that Murphy was "just crazy" and "covered in discolouration from gold poisoning." He also recounted an incident where Murphy was covered in blood, screaming in the neighborhood, which led to police involvement.

Police were called to Murphy's apartment on the morning of his death after neighbors reported hearing screaming. According to police reports, Murphy fled the scene when officers arrived and jumped into an eight-foot-deep lake in an attempt to evade them. He reportedly remained in the water for several hours. Police recovered his body after he struggled to stay afloat and disappeared beneath the surface, likely due to muscle cramps.

Authorities found two unused syringes in Murphy's car at his villa, where paint was smeared on the walls and furniture, and large amounts of trash were present. Murphy's remains are to undergo a post-mortem examination outside Bangkok, and local authorities have not yet released an official cause of death.

Androgenic also claimed that just four days before his actual death, Murphy was planning to fake his own death for a documentary. "The spookiest part about Connor Murphy's death is that just four days before he actually died, he was actually planning to fake his death," Androgenic said. "It was for a major documentary that a few of us starred in and that's why when the news first broke out, I thought it was part of the plan."

Androgenic further stated that Murphy had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, adding that he was "so deeply misunderstood."
