U.S. forces reportedly conducted a secret strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island on Monday, adding to a series of small-scale operations aimed at securing the Strait of Hormuz, according to The Wall Street Journal.

US officials described these recent strikes as defensive in nature. Qeshm Island, located at the mouth of the strategic waterway, has been a repeated target for U.S. forces since the conflict with Iran began.

The island serves as a storage site for Iranian ballistic missiles and hosts a naval base and a desalination plant. U.S. Central Command has not yet responded to requests for comment.
