Fitness influencer Connor Murphy, 32, has died in Thailand after jumping into a lake while being pursued by police, according to reports.

Law enforcement officials characterized the events leading to Murphy's death as a "sudden frantic" meltdown. Police were called to his apartment in Bang Phli, where he had been residing for two months, early Tuesday morning following reports from neighbors who heard a man screaming.

Upon arrival, Murphy reportedly fled the scene and entered a nearby lake, described as being eight feet deep. He remained in the water for several hours and was observed struggling to stay afloat before submerging. Divers later recovered his body from the middle of the lake.

Police Captain Weeraphong Rupsuay told The Sun that neighbors heard Murphy mumbling prayers and shouting at his girlfriend. Rupsuay stated that Murphy's religious behavior "may have been his personal beliefs" and that he "suddenly became frantic without warning, despite never having displayed such behavior before."

Police Lieutenant Colonel Santirat Ngernman added that Murphy became agitated with officers upon their arrival and refused to allow anyone near him. He then jumped into the lake and swam before sinking.

Officials found paint smeared on the walls and furniture in his home, along with large amounts of trash.

Murphy had amassed 2.4 million followers on YouTube, where he frequently shared workout tips, bodybuilding content, and daily vlogs.
