Energy Secretary Chris Wright has stated that Americans should not anticipate a sharp increase in gasoline prices despite escalating tensions with Iran. Wright attributed the continued flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz to the efforts of the U.S. military, asserting that this assurance is not changing.

"The U.S. Military has been the key asset here," Wright told Fox News Digital. "They have assured the flow of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz throughout. Not at the beginning of this conflict, but through the last six weeks."

His comments came after Iran struck three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz on consecutive days. Wright urged the public not to credit Iran for the ongoing security of oil shipments, emphasizing the military's role.

"We're of course constantly watching the supply of oil, the supply of refined products and what's going on there," Wright said, adding that he sees "all positive trends" in the market. President Donald Trump recently stated that calls for peace with Iran were "over" following the attacks.

Wright also expressed support for new discounted gas stations, such as Freedom Fuel in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, which offer prices below the national average by operating on thin margins for gasoline sales, relying on convenience store profits. The Trump administration, while not directly involved, has endorsed such initiatives aimed at lowering energy costs for consumers.

When asked about the increasing push for electric vehicles, Wright highlighted consumer choice as a benefit of living in America, stating, "You get the choice of all those" types of vehicles.
