The US Coast Guard has launched an urgent search for a Gulfstream aircraft that went missing Saturday morning while en route to Boston from Bermuda. The plane, reportedly owned by Latitude Air Ambulance and carrying six individuals, lost contact with air traffic control early in the day.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the loss of contact with the aircraft. The Coast Guard was alerted around 6 a.m. EDT, and by 6:30 a.m., search operations were underway near Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Data from FlightAware indicated a significant and rapid descent, with the aircraft plummeting from an altitude of approximately 25,000 feet to around 11,000 feet shortly after 1 a.m. EDT. The last known signal, or "ping," from the plane was recorded around 1:30 a.m. EDT, not long before its scheduled arrival in Boston.

FlightAware data showed the aircraft plummeted to around 11,000 feet from roughly 25,000 shortly after 1am. The final ping came around 1.30am

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
