US Businessman Dan Friedkin Set to Sell Everton Football Club Amidst Fan Dissatisfaction

American businessman Dan Friedkin, owner of AS Roma, is reportedly close to selling English Premier League club Everton for approximately £800 million. The deal, if finalized, is expected to be completed before the end of the current season, according to reports.

The sale comes amid growing discontent among Everton's fanbase regarding the club's absentee ownership. Sources indicate that the Friedkin Group's inability to meet fan demands was a key factor in their decision to sell.

Internal operations at Everton appear to have been largely unaware of the impending sale. Staff at the club's offices and training facilities reportedly had no prior indication, with Chief Executive Angus Kinnear only learning of the announcement two hours before it was made public. This lack of internal communication highlights the sudden nature of the potential transaction.

Despite the impending sale, the Friedkin Group is reportedly still looking to make signings in the January transfer window. Manager David Moyes, who is in the final year of his contract, is said to retain the club's faith, with a desire to bring in a striker and one additional player.

Manchester United is reportedly monitoring the situation regarding Everton's England centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, assessing whether a January transfer could be possible. The club's previous transfer window saw a lack of investment, which left manager David Moyes with a depleted senior outfield squad and only one recognized striker.

Dan Friedkin acquired a controlling interest in Everton in September 2020. He also owns the Italian Serie A club AS Roma and the luxury hotel company The Friedkin Group.
