The United States and Iran engaged in their most intense series of strikes in weeks, with both nations accusing each other of causing civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. The U.S. military stated it targeted air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities, and communication facilities, asserting that it does not target civilians.
However, Iranian state media reported civilian deaths and damage to civil infrastructure resulting from the U.S. strikes. According to IRNA, citing a provincial official, four projectiles hit the southern port cities of Chabahar and Konarak. Mehr news agency reported that projectiles also struck a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak, a city in Sirik County, citing the Deputy Governor of Hormozgan Province.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society, a humanitarian group, reported that at least five people were killed and more than 50 injured in Sirik, with a 4-year-old child among the fatalities. Tavanir, Iran's national electricity company, indicated that the strikes led to power outages in parts of Hormozgan Province.
In a separate incident, IRNA reported, citing the deputy governor of Iran’s Khuzestan province, that seven people were killed and eight injured in U.S. strikes on three locations within the province. These developments represent a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
