University of Wisconsin Fraternity Booted for Hazing, Alcohol Violations, Records Show
Alpha Epsilon Pi was recognized by the university until 2015, following multiple incidents including a 2013 probation for providing alcohol to a minor.
An unrecognized fraternity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Alpha Epsilon Pi, was recently raided by police who found approximately 30 nearly-naked teenagers smeared with condiments in a sweltering basement, according to police and university records.
The incident led to the arrest of two fraternity leaders. This comes years after the university officially severed ties with the organization in 2015 due to a pattern of repeated violations.
University records indicate that Alpha Epsilon Pi was placed on probation in 2013 following a party where a 17-year-old male and another guest required detoxification due to alcohol consumption. Despite this probation, the fraternity continued to incur alcohol-related violations.
"Subsequently, the organization was found responsible for four additional incidents involving events and/or alcohol while it was suspended or on alcohol restriction," the university stated in its records. These subsequent violations contributed to the final decision to cut the university's recognition of the fraternity in 2015. Even after losing official recognition, the fraternity has continued to operate and has now become entangled in a hazing incident that prompted a police raid.
