University of Mississippi Identifies Two Students Found Dead
Authorities are investigating the separate deaths of an 18-year-old freshman and a 20-year-old student.
The University of Mississippi has identified two students who were found deceased under separate circumstances earlier this week. Aidan Hamilton, an 18-year-old freshman, and Robert Strang, a 20-year-old student, have been named by authorities.
"We are heartbroken by the loss of our dear son and are trying to process this unimaginable loss," an attorney for Strang's family told Fox News.
Strang was a member of the leadership team for the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at the university. Information regarding Hamilton's activities or affiliations has not been publicly released.
Lafayette County Metro Narcotics issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that law enforcement is conducting two distinct death investigations. "At this time, we have no confirmed evidence indicating that the two deaths are connected," the statement read. Packaged kratom was reportedly discovered near the students' bodies.
The university has referred to the statements from authorities regarding the ongoing investigations and has not confirmed the identities of the students directly to The Post.
