University of Georgia Student Survives Eighth-Floor Fall
A 21-year-old student is in intensive care with multiple broken bones after falling from an apartment window while dancing.
A University of Georgia student is in intensive care after surviving a fall from the eighth floor of an apartment building in Athens, Georgia. Kristin Sargent, 21, sustained several broken bones in the incident, according to her father.
Richard Sargent, her father, told Channel 2 Action News that his daughter, who is studying finance and marketing at UGA, was dancing on a sofa when she fell out of a window. The accident occurred at The Rambler building on West Broad Street shortly after the Georgia Bulldogs football team defeated the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.
"She’s a good fighter, and so she’s going to be OK," her father said, relaying his daughter's message to him: “She was talking to one of her friends and saying, ‘Hey, I’m alive. I can’t believe it.’"
The apartment building is cooperating with investigators and has reminded residents about the safety limiters installed on windows throughout the complex.
