Una Pizza Napoletana Tops 2026 List of America's Best Pizzerias
Rankings from 50 Top Pizza highlight top establishments nationwide, though a pizza expert notes potential bias.
The 50 Top Pizza organization has released its 2026 rankings, naming Una Pizza Napoletana in New York City as America's best pizzeria. The list, which spans restaurants across the country, also features Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles and Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco tied for second place, followed by Razza in Jersey City, New Jersey, and Truly Pizza in Dana Point, California, rounding out the top five.
Despite the accolades, pizza expert and historian Colin Caplan expressed a degree of skepticism regarding such rankings. "50 Top Pizza is a very well-respected Italian-based, chef-based site that really goes and finds what they think is the best," Caplan told Fox News Digital, but he suggested the organization may exhibit a bias toward certain pizza styles, particularly those aligned with its Italian roots, such as Neapolitan.
Ultimately, Caplan emphasized that personal preference plays a significant role in determining what constitutes the "best" pizza. "If the heart is [in] it, the pizza is going to taste amazing," he stated.
Una Pizza Napoletana, founded in 1996 by Anthony Mangieri, has secured the top position in the 50 Top Pizza USA ranking for five consecutive years. Eater NY described its Margherita pizza as "a miracle of pizza development and evolution unlike any other Neapolitan pie in the world." Mangieri personally prepares and bakes each pizza, a dedication that has contributed to its consistent acclaim. The restaurant also ranked second in the 2026 50 Top Pizza World list.
Tie for second place was shared by Pizzeria Sei and Tony's Pizza Napoletana. Pizzeria Sei, operated by chef William Joo and Jennifer So, opened in 2022 and specializes in Tokyo-style Neapolitan pizzas, utilizing a crimping technique for its crusts that, combined with high-heat baking, creates a distinct texture. Tony's Pizza Napoletana, led by 13-time world pizza champion Tony Gemignani, offers a diverse range of pizza styles, including Neapolitan, Detroit, Sicilian, New York, and Romana. The establishment also placed fifth in the 2026 50 Top Pizza World ranking.
Razza in Jersey City, helmed by chef and owner Dan Richer, earned third place. Since its opening in 2007, Razza has been recognized for its commitment to high-quality, fresh ingredients and continuous technique improvement. The New York Times awarded the pizzeria a three-star review in 2017, and 50 Best designated it as the Best Pizza in North America in 2019.
Fourth on the list is Truly Pizza in Dana Point, California, founded by Donna Baldwin and John Arena. The pizzeria focuses on seasonal ingredients and supporting local farmers, offering a variety of pizzas from classic cheese to mushroom-centric options in a coastal setting. Truly Pizza was also ranked No. 26 in the 2026 50 Top Pizza World rankings.
Rounding out the top five is Francesco Martucci in Miami. This pizzeria, conceived by Italian chef Francesco Martucci, blends wood-fired tradition with South Florida's vibrant atmosphere. The menu features a wide array of pizzas, including the tomato-rich Assoluto di Pomodoro and the zucchini-based Fior di Zucca Al Quadrato. Notably, Francesco Martucci's Miami location previously held the top spot in the 50 Top Pizza World ranking from 2019 to 2025.
