Collectors will soon have the opportunity to hunt for a new "Holy Grail" as Topps announced the release of an ultra-rare Shohei Ohtani baseball card. The unique item, valued at an estimated $5 million, began appearing in random packs on store shelves starting Wednesday, July 22.
This particular card is a 1-of-1 edition, meaning it is entirely unique and no other card will share its specific characteristics. It pays homage to Ohtani's back-to-back MVP-winning seasons. The card features a Gold MLB Logoman patch worn by the Los Angeles Dodgers player during his 2024 MVP season on the top, and another Gold MLB Logoman patch from his 2025 MVP season on the bottom. Additionally, the card includes both Ohtani's English and Kanji signatures, along with a gold "1/1" marking in the upper left corner.
Geoff Wilson, founder of Market Movers, estimated the card's potential sale price on the secondary market to exceed $5 million, according to Topps. This card is one of three "Back to Back Dual Gold Logoman Autograph Relics" that will be part of the upcoming 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball set. Other notable players, including pitcher Tarik Skubal and outfielder Aaron Judge, will also have similar cards featured in the product, though Ohtani's is the only 1-of-1.
Topps confirmed that all "Back to Back Gold Logoman cards will be redemptions in the set." This indicates that collectors who pull these specific cards may need to exchange them for the actual memorabilia item.
Ohtani, who joined the Dodgers in December 2023, has seen his collectibles market experience a significant boom. His achievements include winning two MVPs and two World Series titles since his move. A previous Ohtani card featuring a Gold MLB Logoman patch sold for $3 million in December 2025, highlighting the immense value collectors place on his memorabilia.
