Ukrainian prosecutors have released video footage they state shows the bombing in Monaco that seriously injured tycoon Vadym Yermolaiev and his family. The June 30 attack occurred in the principality on the Mediterranean coast, and the motive remains unclear.
The case has drawn investigators from Monaco, France, and Ukraine, with assistance from Interpol. The suspected perpetrator, Anastasiia Berezovska, was found dead in Ukraine several days after the incident. A Ukrainian military intelligence officer confessed to killing Berezovska but claimed he acted alone and without his superiors' knowledge, according to the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).
The video, provided to The Associated Press, appears to show a person placing an object in a building's entryway before a blast is heard. Ukrainian chief prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko stated the video was recovered from a surveillance camera installed by the perpetrators. He also noted that SBU specialists restored the footage after it was initially deleted.
Lawyers representing Yermolaiev have accused Ukrainian security services of orchestrating the explosion and requested protection for his family. In a letter provided to French media, Yermolaiev alleged that Ukrainian military intelligence was directly involved in an assassination attempt against his family. He stated that he remains hospitalized, his partner has sustained "irreversible" injuries, and their 13-year-old son suffered burns and fractures.
Yermolaiev was sanctioned by the Ukrainian government in 2023 due to ties to Russia, and he has stated that he renounced his Ukrainian citizenship. The office of the Monaco prosecutor's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the video or the investigation's status.
