Eight people were killed and over 60 others were wounded in Russia during a wave of Ukrainian drone attacks overnight Saturday, according to Russian officials. The strikes targeted energy infrastructure and military-related facilities, continuing Ukraine's aerial campaign against targets within Russia.
Two major online retailer Wildberries warehouses were hit, one in Kotovsk in the Tambov region and another in Elektrostal, a city east of Moscow. Both facilities caught fire. In Kotovsk, seven night shift workers were killed and 25 others were wounded, said Tambov regional governor Yevgeny Pervyshov. In the Moscow region, 37 people were wounded, with one later dying in the hospital, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyov.
An oil depot in Noginsk, north of Elektrostal, was also struck by a Ukrainian drone, igniting a fire and prompting evacuations of a nearby maternity hospital and residential building. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that long-range Ukrainian strikes hit two "significant logistical facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions." He added that these facilities were used by Russia to supply components for drone production and navigation equipment.
Drone debris in Elektrostal also hit a kindergarten building, sparking a fire that was extinguished. In Vladimir, a residential building was struck by a drone, causing a brief fire, but no casualties were reported.
Ukraine's General Staff reported strikes on the fuel depot in Noginsk, which supplies fuel to Russian forces. The General Staff also claimed to have hit two tankers, two floating cranes, and a tugboat in the Black and Azov seas, stating these vessels were used for transporting oil, fuel, and military cargo. Additionally, a patrol ship in Kerch and a railway bridge in occupied Luhansk used for military logistics were reportedly targeted.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses intercepted 379 Ukrainian drones over 19 Russian regions, including Crimea, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea overnight.
