Ukraine has shared a significant cache of top-secret intelligence with the United Kingdom, including data on Russian tactics and Kremlin secrets, to bolster British defenses and train its military forces with AI. This landmark agreement allows the UK access to battle-proven Ukrainian technologies, particularly those employing artificial intelligence in drones and robotics.

The intelligence trove is expected to provide a blueprint for training Britain's forces, with a focus on intercepting Russian drones and thwarting cyber attacks. The deal was announced following a meeting between Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv. This marks Burnham's first foreign trip since assuming office.

Britain is particularly interested in Ukraine's advancements in AI technologies, including their application in defending national energy infrastructure and countering attacks on manufacturers. The UK will become the first nation to access Ukraine's "Avengers AI lab," a hub where significant breakthroughs in AI application for the conflict have reportedly been made. Zelensky stated that a declaration was signed confirming a partnership between the UK and Ukraine in the field of artificial intelligence.

This intelligence sharing comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and the UK. Russia has previously vowed to target UK factories supplying weapons to Ukraine, especially after British-made drones were reportedly used in attacks within Ukraine for the first time. Prime Minister Burnham addressed Russia's threats, stating, "Who started the fire? That's the question, isn't it? It just shows that what we are doing is having an impact and we should stand firm together."

During his visit, Burnham also chaired a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which includes the UK, France, and Germany, to discuss further support for Ukraine. He urged President Donald Trump to increase support for Ukraine, emphasizing the need for collective action to address urgent challenges faced by the country. The Prime Minister also visited a military hospital in Kyiv, where he met Ukrainian veterans and highlighted the support provided by a UK charity that has trained over 1,000 medical professionals for Ukraine.

The visit coincided with Ukraine's independence day celebrations. Burnham addressed crowds in Kyiv, praising the resilience of the Ukrainian people and drawing parallels to Britain's historical struggles. He also laid a wreath at Ukraine's military memorial cemetery. President Zelensky, in his independence day speech, affirmed Ukraine's resolve not to yield to Russia, while Burnham reiterated Britain's "unwavering" support.

In a lighter moment during his visit, Burnham played a song by The Smiths for Ukrainian troops, noting the importance of music in lifting spirits on the front lines. The Ukrainian soldiers reportedly responded by performing an Oasis song.
