Ukraine's "Operation Vivaldi" Recaptures Territory Amid Starlink Restrictions
Kyiv reports significant territorial gains in the Donbas region, but new limitations on Starlink's military capabilities pose a challenge to drone operations.

Ukrainian forces are pushing back Russian troops in the eastern Donbas region as part of an operation codenamed "Vivaldi," according to reports. Commanders are monitoring battlefield developments through live video feeds, including drone interceptions. One such operation captured a Russian surveillance drone using a net deployed from a Ukrainian drone.
Kyiv announced that "Operation Vivaldi" has resulted in the recapture of 277 square kilometers (106 square miles) of territory in recent months. However, Ukraine's military operations, particularly its drone warfare, are reportedly facing new challenges due to restrictions placed on Starshield, the military adaptation of Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service. This technology has been crucial for Ukrainian forces in identifying and targeting Russian positions.
The ongoing counter-offensive highlights the critical role of advanced technology in modern warfare and the complex geopolitical factors influencing its deployment.
