Ukraine deployed hundreds of drones across Russia on Sunday in an extensive aerial assault that killed at least six people, according to reports from Russian officials. This marks one of Kyiv's most significant drone operations since the full-scale invasion began.
Russia's Ministry of Defense stated that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 822 Ukrainian drones overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that approximately 600 drones were detected heading toward the capital, with a significant number neutralized over the Moscow region.
In the Moscow region, an 83-year-old man died when a drone struck a private residence. Local Governor Andrey Vorobyov also confirmed that a separate Ukrainian attack ignited a fire at a warehouse belonging to the Russian retail company Wildberries. Images circulating on Russian media from the town of Podolsk depicted plumes of black smoke rising from the affected warehouse.
Further casualties were reported in Russia's southwestern Rostov region, where Governor Yury Slyusar stated that five people were killed across three towns that came under attack.
