The Ukrainian military has released footage depicting what it claims to be the world's first drone airlift of a wounded soldier from a combat zone. The 92nd Assault Brigade stated that a ground rescue operation was not feasible due to the soldier being surrounded by landmines and facing intense Russian drone activity in the vicinity.
According to the brigade, a remotely operated, heavy hexacopter was utilized for the operation. They described the mission as "very difficult" but emphasized the drone's ability to maintain stability throughout the evacuation.
BBC Verify has confirmed the identities of the military personnel featured in the video and has found no evidence of artificial intelligence generation or manipulation. The footage shows the drone carrying the soldier to safety, bypassing the hazardous ground conditions.
