Sergii Koretskyi has been appointed as Ukraine's third wartime Prime Minister, taking on a significant leadership role as the nation confronts ongoing conflict. Koretskyi's career has been primarily built within Ukraine's energy industry, and he has not previously held elected office.
Since May 2025, Koretskyi has served as the CEO of Naftogaz, the state-owned oil and gas company responsible for a substantial portion of Ukraine's gas production, imports, and distribution. His earlier career included roles as director of the oil refinery operator Ukrtatnafta and Ukrnafta, the country's leading oil producer. He also headed the Western Oil Group and was CEO of the Continuum Group.
Koretskyi holds degrees in mechanical engineering and business economics from Lutsk Technical University. He also obtained a degree in oil and gas production from Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas. His appointment places him in a key position to manage national resources and infrastructure during a critical period for Ukraine.
