UK Travel Company Global Travel Partners Enters Liquidation
The firm, which served over 100,000 customers, is the latest in a string of travel businesses to collapse.
Global Travel Partners, a UK travel company established in 2011, has entered creditors' voluntary liquidation, marking another blow to the industry. The company, which also operated in the United States, had served more than 100,000 customers over its 15-year history, arranging travel across Europe, North America, North Africa, and the Middle East. According to its website, the firm had also booked over 35,000 hotel rooms.
Insolvency firm Yerrill Murphy was appointed as liquidator on October 7, according to The Gazette.
The collapse of Global Travel Partners follows a challenging period for travel agencies. In September, Barnes Worldwide Travel ceased trading. This Liverpool-based independent travel agent, founded in 2007, had offered trips to destinations including Turkey, Goa, Spain, Japan, and America.
Earlier in the year, Wayfairer Travel suspended its services and announced an indefinite closure. The company specialized in package holidays to a variety of destinations, from Africa to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, offering trips such as safaris, adventure getaways, and luxury alternatives.
Ski Yodl Ltd, a Norwich-based company founded in 2018 that offered ski holiday packages to destinations like the French Alps, also entered voluntary liquidation in July.
Furthermore, Travel Bespoke Ltd ceased trading as an Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) holder on May 29, after 15 years in operation. Previously based in Midhurst, the company focused on ski and spa holidays, including flights and package deals.
Gold Crest Holidays, a family-owned coach tour operator based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, confirmed it stopped trading on January 23 and entered voluntary liquidation. The company specialized in tours to destinations such as Disneyland Paris, European city breaks, and major sporting events.
Asiara UK Ltd ceased trading as an ATOL holder on January 21, resulting in the cancellation of all its tours and flights. The brand had offered tailor-made and small-group tours to countries including Thailand, China, India, Japan, and Singapore.
Simply Florida Travel Ltd, based in Glasgow, also ceased trading as an ATOL holder on January 20. The company operated under the name Simply Florida Travel and through its website www.simplyfloridatravel.com.
