UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced that his dog, Axel, will not be moving to 10 Downing Street. Burnham cited concerns that his poodle-mix would not get along with Larry, the long-term feline resident of the prime minister's official residence.
Burnham shared his sentiment during an interview, explaining that Axel is unlikely to coexist peacefully with Larry the cat. Larry has resided at No. 10 Downing Street for 15 years. The Prime Minister indicated that Axel would continue to live with him in Greater Manchester.
The interview, conducted by Laura Kuenssberg, is scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One and available on iPlayer on July 27, 2026.
