West Midlands Police have announced a reward for information leading to the conviction of the individual responsible for the murder of Jinming Zhang, who was found stabbed multiple times on February 9, 2022. The 50,000 British Pound reward is being offered by Crimestoppers for information provided anonymously.
Authorities believe Zhang was killed in a flat used as a brothel in Digbeth. The motive is suspected to have been robbery, though this has not been officially confirmed. A DNA sample obtained during the investigation indicates the suspect is a man with a 99.99% probability of being Black.
CCTV footage released by police shows a masked suspect, described as Black, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, of average build, and in his late 20s at the time of the incident. The suspect was seen wearing a dark hat and dark clothing as he walked along Barford Street shortly before the murder.
"Mr. Zhang was killed in such awful circumstances, and we will not stop until we find out who did this to him," a police spokesperson stated. "People needn't be afraid to come forward with names. The DNA sample we have means that we are able to quickly and easily eliminate people from our ongoing investigation."
Jinming Zhang was a Chinese national. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing and the DNA evidence can help identify the perpetrator.
