Janice Lees, whose son Andrew Flamson was fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident four years ago in Coventry, has been informed that two of the men convicted of his manslaughter could be released early.

Lees received an email two weeks ago from her Probation Service victim liaison officer stating that Tomlinson and Ayre, who were jailed for 13 and 12 years respectively for their roles in Flamson's death, are eligible for sentence reductions. According to Lees, this means they might only serve "50% instead of two thirds of the sentence" due to the terms of the Sentencing Act, which was passed in January.

Andrew Flamson, who was involved in drug use and dealing, was killed in an act of retaliation following a dispute over money owed for cannabis. A fourth individual, Samuel Henneberry, also convicted of manslaughter, died in prison in 2025.

Flamson's mother expressed her profound distress, stating she was "sickened" by the possibility of her son's killers being released early, potentially within the next two years. The third convicted man, Donald, was given a minimum sentence of 23 years.
