A man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Joanne Doyle, 57, who died after being hit by an e-bike on a zebra crossing in Liverpool. Kieran Sewards, 31, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court via video link.

He pleaded not guilty to one charge of manslaughter and another of Section 20 wounding. Sewards has been remanded into custody and his trial is scheduled to begin on February 8, 2027.

The incident occurred around 3:35 p.m. on July 7. Ms. Doyle sustained injuries and later died in the hospital. Her family described her as a "loving, kind and amazing" individual, a "kind-hearted, generous soul who always put others before herself." They added that she was "tragically and suddenly taken from us far too soon and will be missed forever."

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson of Merseyside Police's serious collision investigation unit stated that his thoughts remain with Ms. Doyle's family, who are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers. He added that the investigation has led to a man being charged, and due to active criminal proceedings, further comment on the case's specifics would be inappropriate.
