The UK government has affirmed its commitment to maintaining the pension triple lock, a key Conservative Party policy.
Kemi Badenoch, the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, stated that the party intends to keep the triple lock in place. This pledge was made as the Conservative Party commenced its annual conference in Birmingham.
The triple lock guarantees that the state pension rises each year by the highest of three measures: average earnings growth, inflation, or 2.5%.
