UK Counter-Terror Police Arrest Dual National in Plot Near US Air Base

British counter-terrorism police have arrested a 27-year-old dual UK-Iranian national in Westminster, London, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. The arrest is linked to a suspected plot near Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford, a base used by the U.S. Air Force.

The man was apprehended under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. Authorities have also questioned a 26-year-old UK national under caution.

This development follows the arrest of five men, all in their 20s, on Sunday, September 27, who remain on police bail as the investigation continues. Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing Vicki Evans stated that the investigation is complex, with multiple lines of inquiry being pursued.

"As we've made clear, we're looking at all possible angles - including possible foreign state involvement," Evans said. "I'd like to thank the public for their continued support and patience whilst we work through this investigation."
