The United Kingdom is set to experience a changeable weather pattern over the coming weeks, with alternating periods of warm and hot weather alongside wet and windy spells. Southern and eastern England could see temperatures reaching or exceeding 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) on Saturday.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are anticipating a wet and windy Saturday, with the heaviest rainfall expected in western Scotland. A band of rain, which may include thunderstorms, will move southeastward on Sunday. However, this precipitation is expected to become lighter and more fragmented before reaching southern and eastern England, where drier and warmer conditions are forecast.
Following the weekend, a mixture of showers and sunshine is predicted for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the far north of England. Isolated showers may persist into Monday. Wales and the rest of England are expected to be dry with sunshine as high pressure moves in, although temperatures are predicted to decrease slightly.
By Tuesday, a warm southeasterly flow is expected to bring generally dry weather to much of the UK as the center of an anticyclone shifts eastward. Western and northern Scotland might experience some rain later in the day. Scattered showers, potentially thundery, could develop elsewhere on Wednesday and Thursday, but these are expected to be unpredictable, with many areas remaining dry and warm. Parts of the south could again see temperatures in the low to mid-30s Celsius.
A ridge of high pressure is forecast for Friday and Saturday, promoting mostly dry weather with any showers likely to be confined to the far western and northern parts of the UK. However, there is a possibility of an Atlantic weather system introducing more unsettled conditions towards the end of the week.
