UK Activist Arrested Over English Channel Dinghy Incident

A far-right activist has been arrested in the United Kingdom for allegedly slashing a dinghy in the English Channel, according to reports. The individual, identified as 37-year-old Daniel Thomas, also known by the nickname Danny Tommo, was taken into custody on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life and endangering the safety of a vessel.

A video circulating on social media appears to show Thomas using a knife to cut an inflatable boat. At the time of the incident captured in the video, the dinghy was reportedly empty of migrants but contained a member of the rescue services. During the act, the individual is heard shouting, “You’re in English territory.”

Thomas, a known associate of far-right figure Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, also known as Tommy Robinson, is the founder of Patriot Platform. This group has been associated with recent protests where individuals have attempted to intercept migrants arriving in the U.K.

Earlier in January, masked demonstrators associated with such groups blocked the port of Dover and attempted to prevent migrants from disembarking in Portsmouth. These actions are part of ongoing efforts by anti-immigration activists to disrupt migrant arrivals.

The journey across the English Channel is fraught with peril, and successive U.K. governments have struggled to curb the flow of migrants. In the previous year, over 41,000 people made the crossing. The issue has been a focal point for politicians, including Nigel Farage of the Reform UK party, who have characterized the situation as a crisis.

According to the current government, increased law enforcement cooperation between Britain and France has led to a reported decrease of over 40% in migrant crossings in the early part of this year compared to the same period in 2025. British police do not typically release the names of suspects until formal charges have been laid.
