UCLA Quarterback Ty Dieffenbach Suffers Lower-Body Injury
Dieffenbach, filling in for the injured Nico Iamaleava, exited Saturday's game before halftime.
UCLA quarterback Ty Dieffenbach sustained a lower-body injury just before halftime of Saturday's game against Michigan State, adding to the Bruins' quarterback depth issues. Dieffenbach, who had been starting in place of Nico Iamaleava, was injured after being tackled by multiple Michigan State defenders.
He walked off the field gingerly and did not return for the second half. Prior to his injury, Dieffenbach completed 10 of 19 passes for 83 yards and had four carries for 14 yards. UCLA held a 14-7 lead at halftime.
Nico Iamaleava, the Bruins' initial starting quarterback, is out for the season after suffering a left knee injury earlier this month, which required season-ending surgery this week. If Dieffenbach is unable to play, the team would likely turn to Madden Iamaleava, Nico's younger brother.
