UCLA Makes All Student Tickets Free for Football and Basketball Games
The university aims to boost attendance and enhance the game-day atmosphere by removing ticket costs for students.
UCLA is making all football, men's basketball, and women's basketball tickets free for students, effective immediately. This initiative, which began with the Bruins' football game against Purdue on Saturday at the Rose Bowl, aims to increase student attendance and foster a more vibrant atmosphere at athletic events.
New UCLA CEO and Director of Athletics Tim Harris stated that students are the "heartbeat of UCLA" and their "passion, energy and pride create an atmosphere that makes a difference." He expressed a desire for more students to experience UCLA Athletics, support their fellow students, and contribute to creating a strong home environment.
Registration for the Big Ten home opener on September 19 opened Wednesday. Students who had previously purchased a 2026-27 Den Pass will receive an automatic refund by September 25. In addition to free admission, UCLA students will be able to purchase up to eight guest tickets per home football game, with the exception of the game against USC. Details regarding the ticket request process for men's basketball games will be announced before the 2026-27 season.
This move comes as Harris works to improve the fan experience and support new football coach Bob Chesney. The decision follows a period of low student turnout under previous athletic director Martin Jarmond, who was recently let go by the university. The Bruins have started their season with a 2-0 record.
