UCLA Coach Bob Chesney Offered Aid to Injured Oregon QB Dante Moore

Oregon head football coach Dan Lanning revealed that UCLA coach Bob Chesney offered assistance to injured Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, who was transported to a hospital after a game against USC on Saturday. Lanning shared the detail during an appearance on "The Jim Rome Show."

"He texted me as they were traveling back to LA and said, ‘Hey, if you need my help with Dante or anything and he’s still in LA, I’ll go check on this guy. I’m giving the team off tomorrow; let me know,'" Lanning said. "I’ve got a lot of respect for him and his program."

Moore's injury occurred after a hit by USC linebacker Desman Stephens II. Stephens II was ejected from the game for the play and later received a one-game suspension, ruling him out of USC's Week 5 game against Washington. Moore posted on Instagram on Monday that he has "made progress."

Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola is expected to start for Oregon in Moore's absence. Raiola completed 19 of 25 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns against USC.

UCLA, also on a bye week, is currently ranked No. 23 nationally with a 4-0 record. The Bruins recently secured a 54-3 victory over Maryland. Lanning has previously drawn comparisons between Chesney's current UCLA team and what Curt Cignetti built at Indiana.

UCLA leads the Big Ten in rushing offense, averaging 281.5 yards per game. Running back Wayne Knight, who followed Chesney from James Madison to UCLA, leads the conference with 445 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. UCLA's next opponent is Oregon.
